Mitchell F. Stanley serves as Chairman and Trustee of the National Center for Sustainable Development (NCSD), Muuzii, Inc. an innovative mobile education, translation and language learning technology company, and Sinoaccess Corporation. Prior to the establishment of NCSD, he was Chairman of the Board and Executive Vice President for Business Development of WebBank, an FDIC insured financial institution located in Salt Lake City, Utah.Mr. Stanley helped acquire WebBank in September 1997 to pursue loan origination and transactions over the Internet utilizing WebBank’s national financial institution charter in the government guaranteed and other small business lending fields. His interest in new and innovative small business lending products and economic development programs began during his tenure with the federal government as Deputy Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Finance, Investment and Procurement programs.His career in government service began in 1977 and included senior positions with the U.S. Department of Commerce and State, the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation and the White House. Mr. Stanley completed his government career with the highest rank in the Senior Executive Service and received several Presidential Rank Awards. He graduated in 1977 from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Klann currently serves as the CEO and President of BlueFire Renewables, Inc. and as President of Arkenol Inc. Prior to founding BlueFire, Mr. Klann spent thirty-five years in new technology development and commercialization, with a specialty in frontier technology development. His multi-faceted career includes successful roles at several major companies progressively advancing as: control systems engineer, manager of engineering, corporate management, developer, project finance leader, founder and CEO. Areas of technical expertise include high efficiency cogeneration development using natural gas-fired and solid fuels technologies, ocean thermal energy conversion, deep-water ocean exploration and offshore oil exploration design and operations. His degree is in Electrical Engineering.Mr, Klann founded five companies, ranging from oil field electronic instrumentation to the current cellulosic bio chemical platforms. As founder of ARK Energy, Inc., he was responsible for the successful development or acquisition of over 610 megawatts of natural gas-fired cogeneration facilities, and was the driving force behind the research and development effort leading to the commercialization of the Arkenol technology.Mr. Klann currently serves on several international non-profit corporation boards that serve needs in the areas of faith, health and human rights. He serves as a musician in a worship team and associate pastor at a church in California.
Ms. Sumait has extensive background in the development of energy projects from inception through financial closing, commissioning, and operations. She has broad experience in siting, regulatory compliance, governmental and community relations and legislative affairs. Ms. Sumait has played major roles in the successful development of several solar and natural gas power plant projects and has been an active participant in the state and national efforts to encourage the commercialization of biomass to renewable fuels technologies. Ms. Sumait obtained all of the federal, state and local permits required for the only cellulose to ethanol plant to have been permitted in California. Prior to joining the ARK/Arkenol group, she was Vice President of Project Development for LUZ Development and Finance Corporation. While at LUZ, Ms. Sumait led the efforts for the successful permitting of nine solar thermal projects totaling over 500 MW through the California Energy Commission. Ms. Sumait has a MBA in Technological Management from Illinois Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Biology from De Paul University. She currently serves on the Executive Board for the California Biomass Collaborative.
Richard Klann is an experienced financial analyst with an extensive background in banking and renewable energy for both public and private companies.For the past seven years, Mr. Klann has been the VP of Corporate Finance for BlueFire Renewables Inc., a technology company, deploying its proprietary process to produce biofuels. He is in charge of the company’s finance, accounting, financial analysis, financial modeling, corporate compliance and investor relations. His responsibilities include public company financial reporting, SEC filings and general accounting and auditing of the company’s finances. While at BlueFire, he has been instrumental in securing an $88 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as well as two different loan guarantee applications with the USDA and DOE. In addition, he has an extensive background in government grant compliance and reporting. He has overseen the implementation of business computer systems and general management of day-to-day activities.Previously he worked for Ironstone Bank, a commercial bank in Newport Beach, California focusing on corporate lending and equipment acquisition. He also worked for Bank of America for almost six years as a client manager and lending specialist. Mr. Klann has a BA in Economics, and minor in Political Science, from California State University, Fullerton./p>
